Where business meets the court: Padel, People & Property – In conversation with Rémi Gaich, Director Lucas Fox Ibiza
In this interview, Lucas Fox Ibiza Director Rémi Gaich shares how the annual padel tournament blends real estate, lifestyle, and community on the island.

Each spring, players from across the island gather at Ibiza Padel Indoor — one of the Balearics’ top clubs — for the annual Lucas Fox tournament. It’s an event that combines sport, community, and business in a uniquely local way. We spoke with Rémi, Director of Lucas Fox Ibiza and the organiser of the tournament, about how it began, what makes it work, and why padel is proving to be a smart fit for the world of real estate.
The tournament and its origins
How did the idea for organising a padel tournament come about?
It’s part of a multi-year partnership we have with Ibiza Padel Indoor. Supporting the club and organising a tournament felt like a natural extension — not only to connect with the local community but to create something with consistency and character. It’s become a date people look forward to.
What makes the event so successful?
Good organisation, a relaxed but fun atmosphere, and the attention to detail — from welcome packs to the prizes. It’s not just about the competition; it’s about the experience. It’s also an annual event that people put in their calendar, and look forward to each year.
Are you a padel player yourself? What do you enjoy about it?
I am, yes — and a few of our team members are too. What I appreciate most is how accessible it is. You can improve quickly, it’s social, and it’s inclusive. It works well whether you’re playing with friends, colleagues or clients regardless of level.
Business, brand impact and community

How does organising events like this support Lucas Fox’s presence in Ibiza?
It reinforces our connection with both the local and international communities — residents, expats, and visitors alike. The event reflects the lifestyle side of our brand, and it builds visibility in a way that feels genuine.
Do these kinds of events support networking or client engagement?
Absolutely. They open up space for informal and natural conversations that often lead to more meaningful connections. It’s not a sales environment — it’s a chance to meet people, understand their plans, and build trust over time.
Have you seen direct results — deals or collaborations — come from the tournament?
We have. It’s not always immediate, and it’s not something you can always quantify precisely, but the link is clear. Sport creates connection, and from those connections, opportunities naturally follow.
Why do you think padel works so well as a networking platform for real estate?
It’s easy to organise, doesn’t require a big time commitment, and can be played across level, age, gender. It brings people together in a relaxed way — which is ideal for our line of work.
Who tends to take part — is it mostly real estate professionals?
There’s a real mix. You’ll see people from the industry, of course, but also entrepreneurs, creatives, families, and long-time locals. Some come for the competition, others just to enjoy the game. It’s open to anyone curious to give it a go, and that’s part of the appeal.
