Ca's Concos is a charming village nestled between Santanyí and Felanitx, within the municipality of Porto Colom. The area covers 169.75 km², sits at an average elevation of 144m above sea level, and is home to around 823 residents. Located about 60 km from Palma, this quaint village boasts a large church, dating back to 1893, which stands at the heart of the town.
The surrounding area has attracted several art galleries, adding a touch of creativity to the peaceful ambiance. You'll also find a selection of restaurants, bars, and small local shops.
To the south of Ca's Concos, towards S'Alquería Blanca, lies Puig Gros, a 271m hill. Near its summit, over 400 years ago, the Santuari de la Consolació fortress was built, serving as a refuge for the nearby town of Santanyí, which was often raided by pirates. The sanctuary even features its own courtyard cistern and houses an image of St. Scholastica, the sister of St. Benedict. According to local legend, she is revered for her ability to bring rain. In times of drought, locals still visit the shrine to pray for rain.
To the north, towards Porto Colom, stands the Castell de Santueri, perched on a 408m cliff. Built by the Arabs and first documented in 1228, the castle was conquered by King James I in 1231. Extensive renovations were made in the 14th century. The winding road leading to this ancient fortress offers a glimpse into the past, as the remains of Roman watchtowers can still be seen. Though much of the fortification has crumbled, the panoramic views from the top are breathtaking, stretching as far as the Balearic Islands on a clear day.
