Llafranc is a charming, upmarket coastal village located in the heart of the Costa Brava coastline within the province of Girona. Its horseshoe-shaped, south facing sandy bay is considered one of the best beaches on the Costa Brava and the village has for many years been a top destination for wealthy Catalan second home owners and a favourite for the more discerning northern European holiday maker. The attractive, tree-lined, beach promenade boasts numerous shops, cafés and quality seafood restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Miramar on the southern end of the bay. The village also boasts its own private marina and sailing club and one of the Costa Brava’s most prestigious tennis clubs, just a couple of minute’s drive from the bay.
Calella de Palafrugell is one of the Costa Brava’s most emblematic and beautiful bays. The village, which comprises eight beautiful sandy bays (including El Canadell, El Golfet, Port Bó and Port Pelegrí), is sandwiched between Llafranc to the northern end and the Botanical Gardens of Cap Roig to the south and boasts one of the Mediterrean’s most beautiful seafront promenades. The beaches of Calella de Palafrugell are widely recognised as some of the best on the Costa Brava with the added advantage of being laid-back and slightly secluded, with many of the little coves only being accessible via the coastal walkway – ideal for quiet family holidays or couples looking for a luxury beach holiday.
Tamariu is an attractive cove situated on the Costa Brava, where dramatic, pine-covered cliffs fall down to crystal clear, blue waters. The beach is amongst the Costa Brava’s cleanest and most well-maintained and is a favourite with scuba divers due to its underwater treasures such as the submerged mountain of the Llosa de Cala Nova. Tamariu also boasts a lovely seafront promenade and several excellent seafood restaurants.
